The annual Delta Zeta Turtle Tug event will take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, by the Ag Pond and Hall 20. The participants will play tug-o-war over a pool of green Jell-O, and all the proceeds from the event will go to Delta Zeta's national philanthropy, a camp called The Painted Turtle.
The camp is an innovative medical specialty camp and family care center for children who have chronic and life-threatening illnesses.
"Turtle Tug is a fundraiser that is done throughout the country to raise money to send to the camp," Lindsay Hamilton, The Woodlands sophomore, said. To help spread publicity about the event, Hamilton went around to the Greek community and other organizations on campus.
"We are hoping for a big turnout this year, and it is not too late to sign up," Hamilton said.
The event is an all-campus event open to students who can get a team of five together to participate. The cost is $45 per team, which includes food and a T-shirt for everyone on each team.
Members of Delta Zeta are donating boxes of green Jell-O to the event. Students can still sign up until Saturday, Oct. 24, by contacting Hamilton at 936-520-9592 and filling out a sign-up sheet.
