As the end of the semester draws near, students desperately rack their brains for tools and resources that can help make studying for finals just a little bit easier. And in our digital day and age, some of those tools are online.
Studyblue.com, a Madison, WI based company, is a free service designed to help students study more efficiently by providing them with resources and connections to other students. Their tagline is "study smarter, not harder".
Founded in 2006 by two students at the university of Wisconsin, the site has already grown to 1,000 colleges-including SFA-and has more than 100,000 users ranging from high school students to college professors.
"Unlike other "note-sharing" Web sites, StudyBlue.com is a true academic network that allows students the opportunity to create, organize, share and learn from content," said Chris Klündt, Founder and President, StudyBlue.com.
The site provides a number of study and organizational aids, like the option for students to upload their notes on the Web site in order to have access to them anywhere and the ability to search past notes, as well as find and read notes uploaded by other students. The site also offers calendars that track classes and projects.
Students can also find notes and flashcards based off the book their class is using created by other students, simply by typing information about the text in a search feature and locating the correct book.
There is also a feature for creating flash cards, which the site will then shuffle into a random order for students to study. It can also all students to study only the flashcards they got incorrect on their first try, allowing them to go over things they have missed.
Originally called theClassConnection.com, the site has undergone a recent overhaul, changing its name and revamping the site design.
"We recently made upgrades to the Web site and reworked our look. It's much more efficient for our growing number of users. We wanted a simple URL that is as easy to use as our product," said Ben Jedd, Communications Officer for StudyBlue.com.
