Applications for the position of Student Regent are due this Friday, Nov. 21.

In 2005, the Texas Legislature approved the position of a non-voting student regent. In accordance with the provisions of this legislation each public university Board of Regents will include one student member appointed by the Governor. The Student Regent represents all students throughout the university, both undergraduates and graduates, for a one-year term. This appointment allows a student to represent students directly in discussions of key issues in higher education. Although the student regent does not vote, he or she will have the opportunity to have important input to decisions affecting the future of our campus. The Student Regent position is the highest position a student can be appointed while enrolled in a Texas public higher education institution.

At the time of application and throughout the term of appointment, the student must be enrolled in good standing as an undergraduate or graduate student at SFA. Preference will be given to applicants who are residents of the State of Texas and who have a general knowledge of the functions of the Board of Regents. Student regent applicants must have a strong desire to represent all students at SFA.

These packets provide the information about the process, timelines and forms necessary to apply for the position. Please complete the application in full to assist in the student regent selection. Completed applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21 in the Office of Student Life (Involvement Center, BPSC, Room 1.204).
