The Hospitality Administration class, HMS 480, will honor Bruce White of White Lodging at The Pineapple Awards on Nov. 22.
According to Sarah Lynn, auxiliary services director and Katy senior, The Pineapple Awards is an inaugural program to honor a partner in excellence of the hospitality program at SFA. White's company is a hotel management company with about 150 properties in the United States and 30 in Texas.
The evening will consist of a silent auction, reception with hors d'oeuvres and punch, a seated dinner and entertainment. The HMS 480 class is hosting the event for the first time.
"The entire class, 23 students and Dr. Carl Pfaffenberg, are involved in the awards ceremony," Lynn said. "There are three directors-Gabriela Gadeva, operations; Ashley Farmer, marketing and solicitation, and myself."
The dinner will include Chicken New Orleans, a chicken breast lightly breaded, sautéed and dusted with pecans.
The reception and silent auction will start at 6 p.m. in the BPSC Grand Ballroom with dinner served at 7 p.m. The Student Jazz Band will provide a musical backdrop for the reception and dinner. White will be honored with a brief ceremony, and hospitality scholarship award winners will be introduced, Lynn said.
Tickets for The Pineapple Awards are $60, with a table of eight available for $500, which includes preferred seating. The proceeds from the event will benefit the student and faculty enrichment programs within the hospitality administration department.
