For any student who wants to slide around in green Jell-O, the Delta Zeta Turtle Tug is for you.

The ladies of Delta Zeta sorority are hosting their annual Turtle Tug philanthropy event at 5:30 p.m. today at the Ag Pond, near Hall 20. Participants will play tug-o-war over a pool of green Jell-o.

Page Geach, Dallas junior, said, "Every girl had to bring four boxes (of Jello.) It took a couple of weeks, because we kept buying out Walmart and Kroger."

The event is meant to raise money for the Paint-A-Turtle camp in California. Every chapter has to do something for the national philanthropy, and they chose to host this event every year in the fall.

"Since the camp and our sorority have the same mascot, it was an easy choice," Geach said.

The camp is for children with diseases such as liver cancer or diabetes. They get to act "normal" for a week by participating in camp like activities such as sing-a-longs and swimming.

It's a chance for them to learn how to control their disease and do it among other kids who have the same disease.

"Last year the turnout wasn't so good, but this year it's going pretty well," Geach said.

The sorority is looking forward to hosting another big event next semester.
