The SFA television station will soon be getting a face life through new programming, and existing programming will get a new look.

SFA TV-2 airs educational, cultural and local news and events programming. The main program it is known for is "Nac Edition," a student-produced news show.

Dr. Al Greule, associate professor of communication, said although the changes will be gradual, the end product will be worth it.

"It will eventually look like a real television station," he said.

Not only will it look different because of new graphics and new programming, content will also be posted on the Internet.

"Like most other stations, in the near future we are going to put enhanced content on the Web," Greule said. "Let's say we use part of an interview in a news story. We would put the full interview online."

Another new aspect of the station is that specials will be aired.

Dr. Dustin Lawhorn, associate professor of communication, said a 30-minute special on one topic will air, and it will cover all aspects of that topic. It will be a recurring show throughout the season.

The studio where "Nac Edition" is taped will also look different.

"We will be revamping the studio to make it look more fluid," Lawhorn said. "The sets will be movable for us to be able to achieve certain shots. We also have a new 73-inch monitor, a 50-inch monitor and a 47-inch monitor that will all be mounted in the studio."

The students and professors associated with the station are re-examining who the audience will be. Both Greule and Lawhorn agreed that SFA TV-2 is a student-oriented station serving both the students of SFA and the community.

Changes will go into effect Oct. 1 and will continue throughout the semester.
