Become educated, 'Know Your Vote'

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity will present "Know Your Vote," an open forum to discuss the political views of both the Democratic and Republican Parties at 7 p.m. today in the Grand Ballroom.
The event is planned to enlighten the students on political issues, as well as to ask questions of each party. This will be an open forum, meaning students can ask questions, comments and conduct informal debates.
The Kappa men have paired up with SGA, APO, Young Democrats and other organizations to pull off this event.
"We are hoping to have a lot of students come out (who are) looking forward to being educated on who is running and why they are voting on whomever they are voting for," said Chris Owor, community service chair.
John Flemming, a Republican and an SFA professor who is currently running for the position of county attorney, will also be attending this event, as well as Tim Garrigan, a Democrat who will be accompanied by other Democratic representatives.
Students will be able to attend the event and ask mature questions about the election or just be informed about the political parties.
"A lot of people don't vote because they don't know about politics. So that is why we are doing the open forum to educate people," Owor said.
Kappa Alpha Psi is asking forthe support of all organizations. They will be making t-shirts with the logo "Vote Now or Cry Later," and for $35 an organization can add their logo to show support for educating the SFA community. They will be taking preorders of $7 per shirt to wear on Election Day, Nov. 4.
