"It usually comes down to us doing well during the season and Texas State doing well in the tournament," Humphreys said. "SFA is good at the marathon but Texas State is good at the sprint."
The University of Texas at San Antonio is also a good team who has come on strong. They are a young team who has been playing very well.
Although the Ladyjacks have some fierce competition, Humphreys is concentrating on her team.
"Our main concern is to put ourselves in good position and not really worry about anyone else," Humphreys said.
Humphreys encourages those who have not been to a volleyball game this season to go to one and has given the campus a challenge.
"My challenge for students is to come out to one game early in the season and take a look," Humphreys said. "No doubt they will want to come back after checking us out; especially if they're not familiar with volleyball."
"We are a product you can be excited about and hopefully impressed with," said Humphreys. "Something you can come back and see."
The Ladyjacks have several promotions at the games such as giveaways and pizza after the match.
With the start of the Jack Team Rewards program where students earn points for attending athletic events and are rewarded prizes, Humphreys has noticed an increase in students at games but would still like to see more fans at games.
"Students can help us by attending games. Lamar brought two buses of fans and won in five games last season," Humphreys said. "We want to have a strong home advantage."
The Ladyjacks continue conference play this weekend at home against Nicholls State on Friday at 7 p.m. at Johnson Coliseum and then against Southeastern Louisiana at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
