As we headed back to Nacogdoches we were forced to see the awful effects Ike had on this community. We watched gas prices rise, evacuees crowd the highways heading home and families cleaning up their nearly destroyed homes.

With life happening, I'm reminded to breathe deeply, to find things that bring joy in the midst of pain and to listen intently, because there is nothing like finding a new song or artist that takes you to another place.

This quote from one of my all-time favorite songs certainly fills that bill:

Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high.

There's a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue.

And the dreams that you dare to dream

Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far Behind me.

Where troubles melt like lemon drops, Away above the chimney tops.

That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere, over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow,

Why then - oh, why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow,

Why, oh, why can't I?
