Math department chair dies Friday
Issue date: 11/15/07 Section: News
Adams was a menacing force on the handball and racquetball courts. He loved outdoor activities, especially fishing and hunting, and nothing pleased him more than catching a five-pound bass on a purple worm. His happiest moments were those times spent with family and friends riding motorcycles, water-skiing, camping, traveling, working in the garden and simply spending time together.
Born Aug. 27, 1942, he was the son of Emmett and Mayme Adams. A native of East Texas, Dr. Adams attended Tyler Junior College and later earned both B.S. and M.S. degrees from SFA. He received his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Romberg Adams; and by two sons, Bryan Emmett Adams and wife, Amber, of Raleigh, N.C., and Jason Romberg Adams and wife, Jaime, of Euless; as well as two sisters, Marceline Wright of Brownsboro and Wanda Frick of Troup; a brother, Bobby Adams of Wills Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday at the North Street Church of Christ. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jasper E. Adams Memorial Math Scholarship, SFA Alumni Association, P.O. Box 6096 SFA, 75962 or the Lance Armstrong Foundation (www.livestrong.org). Laird Funeral Home.

"We were never close or friends, but he still knew my name from a single class back in the '80s. He made a difference and left the world a better place," nice expression. (Continued…)
