Business at the Barton Springs Road Austin Java has picked up after the local restaurant saw a dip in sales following comments made by Austin musician Marcia Ball.

During last Wednesday's Blues on the Green concert at Zilker Park, Ball told an audience of 6,000 that she was boycotting the restaurant for its connection with the removal of several dozen native pecan trees.

GRANBURY, Texas (AP) _ Police said Sunday they have no motive or suspects in the weekend shooting deaths of two Granbury women whose bodies were found in a parked vehicle outside a plumbing business.

Police are investigating the deaths of Robyn Deann Richter, 32, and Shawna Rachelle Ferris, 35, as homicides.

Supreme Court ruling stimulates university interest in handgun laws

The Supreme Court's decision to strike down a Washington, D.C., handgun ban last Thursday has renewed national interest in gun rights and restrictions, including the issue of gun bans on college campuses.

Although the District of Columbia v. Heller decision will not directly affect state laws, it explicitly interprets the Second Amendment as giving citizens, rather than just militia members, the right to bear arms.

BAYTOWN, Texas (AP) _ Police charged a 14-year-old girl Thursday with murdering her baby in a school bathroom after secretly giving birth.

Police in Baytown said the girl is charged as a juvenile with capital murder. She cannot be executed because of her age.
